I have a simple socket client at www.think400.dk/downloads.htm that makes
communication with a server about as simple as you can get but still
requires RPG but based on what I am hearing you are wanted to do more than
just talk to a server. You are wanting to talk to an HTTP server.

If true, you might look at the new IBM SQL services. Still require an RPG
program but pretty damn simple.

I looked at the manuals and it look like there is not easy way to use
socket programming is IBM I in general and CL in particular. I need to send
some data to a server. I thought to use cURL, but I can't ensure unix
services are available (and the response from unix is a bit unclear).

Any idea how to use socket programming in CL program?
