Here's how I do it:

Listen 192.168.1.xx:80
Listen 192.168.1.xx:443

<VirtualHost 192.168.1.xx:80>
ServerName www.bvstools.com
Redirect permanent / https://www.bvstools.com/
</VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost 192.168.1.xx:443>
SSLAppName BVSTOOLS_SSL
SSLServerCert "www.bvstools.com 2017"
SSLEngine On
SSLCacheDisable
ServerName www.bvstools.com

.. etc... etc...
