I had hopes - I still wonder if it'd work if you knew the distinguished name stuff for EIM.

I'll put the question to a friend of mine who really really should know!!

There are also LDAP clients out there - including free ones - and Navigator has its own client for Dir Srv.

I am walking in murky waters, having not done this, just going on theory!!

There is info at Knowledge Center in the EIM section on LDAP considerations - might be worth a look.

I hear you - the onezee thing bugged me, too. Consultants like Pat Botz have tools.

But I was pointing at the LDAP stuff - Directory Services (or Server) is the name for it on IBM i - and in QShell there are utilities for working with the directories in there - and EIM stuff is stored in Directory Services.

http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/power/software/i/ldap/resources.html is IBM's page on this - and if you go to the 4th link or so - the one for an article by someone named McMeeking - that's a start for using the utilities in QShell. He has pointers to other resources, much of it is in Knowledge Center already.

There IS an interface in Navigator for Directory Services, as well - not the one for EIM. It should - the famous should - be possible to dive into the EIM stuff that is in Directory Services.

Some more on this - a look at the resources page on IBM's page on LDAP
has an article with this bit -

Managing directory content is application-dependent. AS/400 Directory
Services provides two sets of tools that you can use. A set of AS/400
shell utilities provides the capability to view, change, delete, and
rename directory objects. To access the QSH shell interpreter, use the
AS/400-based Start QSH (QSH) command: QSH

You can find more information on the LDAP shell utilities in AS/400

html/as400/infocenter.htm) under the Networking drop-down, choose TCP/IP, choose TCP/IP Services and Applications, choose Directory Services (LDAP), and choose the LDAP command line utilities topic.

So the EIM stuff should be viewable this way, seems to me.

utilities already on the system. Besides the EIM interface in
Navigator, there is also an interface there to Directory Services, IIRC.

There are, of course, EIM APIs that could let you build a tool yourself.

And I might have a tool that I got when making SSO work in a vendor
product - IIRC, the tool is kind of rudimentary but is an IBM thing
from someone in Germany from a while ago.

I'll go looking if you want for that thing - it's been awhile, so I
don't remember what it really gives you.
