It's not self-promotion, Richard. It's the truth.

You're bending it by seeming to say all relays don't need authentication or
a secure transport protocol and that you'll never need a 3rd party tool and
the IBM i SMTP/MSF system is all you'll need.

If your PC relay is ONLY there because the IBM i SMTP system can't handle
the authentication and/or secure transport, that's fine, and it's a
solution. But so are the 3rd party tools I offer. And I'd say they are
less expensive and better supported and much less of a link in the chain
that could fail.

Trust me, with the prices I charge I'm not in it for "the money". I do it
because I love the challenge of solving a problem.

Now my turn for face palm.

If you have a Barracuda or other relay in place they can often do the
secure connections during relay.

Then no new Brad-Tools or Richard-Tools needed :-)

I understand your need for self-promotion, but it's not always about
buying new software.

For completeness and to add to Larry's comment if you use Barracuda and
other mail relay appliances then the issue of using MSF or not goes away
because the mail relay appliance does all the heavy lifting. Just bounce
the emails to the appliance and off they go with auditing in place.

Inbound mails come in through the appliance and get relayed into the IBMi
mailboxes, Domino or Exchange.

More and more shops are going to the cloud and just use web interfaces or
set up their pc email clients to send/receive using that cloud server.

Problem solved without purchasing any new IBMi software in most cases if
you already have working utilities from Brad or any other vendor.

Not if that relay appliance is in the cloud or requires authentication and
or SSL/TLS. That's the main point here, Richard. And that's the main
reason I have so many customers using MAILTOOL Plus and other addons to
work with specific email APIs.

Yes, the IBM i will work sending email if there's no
authentication/credentials or security layer needed. But not if you need
to use specific user accounts and a mail relay that requires credentials,
SSL, etc.
