Subject: Re: Node.JS Was: New lower cost IBM i announced
In defense of what I said, I didn't say that.
"Aaron Bartell suggested that IBM i should be priced and marketed like
Linux."
Is that the statement you're alluding to? It doesn't say you said anything.
It says you suggested (in the sense of implying) that IBM i should be
priced and marketed like Linux.
Following are excerpts of what you said:
"Just had a customer determine to develop their web presence on
CentOS+Node.js. This is a customer that did most everything on their IBM i
including email."
"They hired a Linux guy that can make Linux sing."
"He doesn't like to pay for operating systems."
"He also made the claim that Linux is much better put together than PASE.
~Today~ he is correct in that assertion."
My interpretation:
Your customer decided to develop (and deploy) their web presence on Linux
and Node.js rather than IBM i.
You believe that Linux can be made to run smoothly.
You believe that free operating systems is a valid point. Otherwise, why
would you make it.
You made these points in the context of a broader discussion about IBM's
pricing and marketing of their new entry-level server.
HTH,
Nathan.
