Can I use virtual partition on small Power 8

Are there limits to virtual partition at V7r2 Power 8 (small system) and
share all resources, for separated dev and prod environments?

Is it 2 copies of the OS?

Single licenses?

Same serial, processor, feature. I assume

Share disk and memory, Ethernet

How much is lost to overhead besides the disk for 2nd OS copy?



To transition from single partition to 2 - do you have to

save the current system,

wipe or configure the 2 partitions

then restore from the original 1 save?



I've seen the pdf - System Management Logical Partitions - it's either just
an overview or it's not that complicated?



Is there a difference between "virtual" partitions and "logical" partitions?
I see both terms.
