A while ago, I used UIM to create just that. Those UIM menu are still working.
If you are interested, contact me and I will send you the sources of it. Pretty simple once you know.
Be warned that all comments are in French in my sources.

Objet : Re: UIM List Panels
I would choose something I am familiar with.
For me that would be SFL in RPG programmes. With the QCAPCMD API it is easy to call the commands you want.
With the Retrieve Request Message API you can display the previous executed commands (and prompt those again using QCAPCMD).
For examples with UIM panels you nmay have to search the archives of Midrange Computing (if still available) and News400 (or whatever it is called today like the systen it refers too)]

If you were going to create a programmer's utility screen to
list some information solely for the purpose of being able to use
options to execute a bunch of related IBM commands against the selected "subfile"
line, would you recommend making the effort to create a UIM List panel?
...or, would you recommend sticking to CLLE, RPGLE, and DSPF programming?
If UIM, do you know a good working example from which to start?
Sincerely,
Dave Clark
