I was thinking the same thing. Granted, the XML-INTO is some nice
functionality.
And I could see a general %encypt() BIF possibly being useful....or at
least better received than the API calls for a certain class of RPG
programmer.

Meh...the functions exist and can be called by an RPGLE program...
Don't see how having them as a BIF would be all that much help.

That is exactly the same solution I've used. Correct me if I'm wrong

I was about to post the same thing. Turned it into a service program and
called it MKD5R4. Works well.
