What will be done with the data?
Are they:
1 - Importing it into SQLServer?
2 - Dumping it into Excel?
- ???

If you are using SQLServer then you do not want it into the IFS. Instead
have them use an ODBC connector to your IBM i and read from DB2 directory.
Even if you have to create a 'safe' temporary table first and let them
read from that.

If they want it in Excel search around for something like SQL2XLS which
will allow you to run a simple SQL statement and create an Excel file in
your IFS.
Use iNav to create a share over a directory on your IBM i.
Then the end user can map to that share and download the file.

Do NOT use QDLS, ever, ever, ever! These people are remembering something
from back on AS/400. That's long dead and gone. No sane person uses QDLS
on IBM i.
