I assume you are using the IBM i as the FTP client - right? If so, see if you can use

quote rcmd [the unix command you want to run]

against the FTP server on the Unix box.

You could try

quote ?

in your FTP session to see what subcommands are available on the Unix box.

You might also be able to have a process on the Unix box waiting for a file to arrive - then do a PUT of that marker file when you want something to happen - I think I did something like that 20 years ago, long deep memory hole there!

I can build progress exports to a .csv or .txt file on the UNIX system.

The system is running an old version of progress.

I want to dump the files on a regular basis and import them into tables on the IBM I. I have setup FTP to do this and it works well but I have to run the exports manually.

What I would like to do, is from the FTP script, run the progress results export features to build the export files and then pull the files onto the IBM I. Has anyone done or does any have suggestions on how to do this?

TIA.
