× The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.

I want to thank everyone for their input.
We had another occurrence this morning, job ran 45 minutes longer.
Unfortunately, we were not aware of the issue until the job was finished.
The remote server is internal.
We only started this process 1/19 of this year.
The Java process will be replaced later this year when the remote app is upgraded and allows another interface besides Java.
This is our only process that uses Java, and it will be going away.
Java is too unpredictable, and troubleshooting is almost impossible.

Java 1.6 is full of holes and other stuff. IBM recently sent out a critical "get this now, huge publicly known security hole" java alert. I think it had something to do with shutting off a common form of encryption which may cause you no end of grief with sites expecting you to use crappy encryption.
Once you put this PTF on you may have to whitelist crappy forms of encryption.
Actually one alert affected java 6,7,8.

We have a batch job that uses Java 1.6 get info from a remote server.
Normally the process takes 1 1/2 hours.
This morning it took 2 hours 15 minutes, 45 minutes longer.
Other processes were dependent on the timely completion of this info.
Because its Java, joblog does not help.
What tools can be used to troubleshoot/isolate this issue?
Anything in MPG?
