Truncation error

If I use

select x, y, z, x*y as a, b,
(y*z)
from...

and my rtvqmqry returns

select x, y, z, x*y as
(y*z)
from...
SQL0104 - Token ( was not valid. Valid tokens: <IDENTIFIER>.

then it needs an <IDENTIFIER> like the a in the first example.
