While I have not yet tried it the link that Marc send is the only option i am aware of. It's a brand new function with 7.2.

While it seems like it would be quite simple I had a nice discussion with one of the product managers for PowerHA last month. In that discussion I learned a bit more about how iASPS are handled withing the O/S. Due to the Single Level Store the addresses used in the iASP must be unique. So part of the process that the system goes through is assuring that is the case.

In case you weren't aware of this the way IBM i handles disk is a LOT different than other operating systems!!!

Hi gang,

I am working with a friend to try and resolve an iASP scenario that is
described below...

We have “LPAR A” connected to a SAN with a system ASP on SAN#1 and an IASP
on SAN#2. In the event that we completely lost “LPAR A” and the system ASP
on SAN#1 and we had to load from scratch a fresh base copy of V7R2, let’s
call it “LPAR B” and rebuilt the system ASP. Now we have “LPAR B” with a
new system ASP on SAN#1 with no knowledge of the configuration or the
connection to the IASP.

We want to attach the IASP on SAN#2 to “LPAR B”.

We have tried configuring a non-switched IASP and cannot figure out how to
reconnect that IASP properly to “LPAR B”. It keeps initializing and
clearing the IASP. IBM support has been helping out but they are not sure
if it can be done. We considered a switchable IASP but it appears to
require more complex “cluster” configuration work and may even require more
software. Not sure if we can have, in effect, a cluster of one LPAR to
reconnect the IASP to. Can we manually create the configuration objects
needed to reconnect to the non-switch IASP? Looking for the simplest path
to get this done, preferably with a non-switched IASP or switch IASP if we
must.

Thanks,
