I figured it out. These are just extents to the defined storage space. Must have reached max file size somewhere. Other disks are defined smaller capacity.

NWSSTG Requested size 283,004 MB
IBM I Disk size 263,779 MB
IFS File size (total) 296,760 MB
QFPCLTSTG1 274,877 MB
QFPCLTSTG2 21,873 MB

I wonder if/how having the two extends affects IO performance to the LPAR or if sizing the disk smaller so to have a single extend would matter?

Subject: NWSSTG files

I am using an IBM I partition to host disk for multiple other IBM I partitions.

In the IFS some of NWSSTG directories have 1 file and some have 2 files, QFPCLTSTG1 and QFPCLTSTG2. Any idea what the G2 file is for and why only some of the directories have this?

Thanks
