USB memory option is an external usb drive, no idea why you would want one
(to backup? why buy an ibm branded one?)
The order might not have a memory option if it's using the default. I know
older HMCs came with only 1Gb RAM, but since it's a common x3550 you can
always add more.
Any reason you want to know how much ram you've got?

I found our original HMC order, which shows 8gb.
1208 8GB Pluggable USB Memory Option

But the command is only showing 4gb.

Rob,

I found all the links I need to do this.
How do you find how much memory a 7042-CR6 has?

Maybe next week. Kind of forgot about it.

Rob,

Did you complete 8.8.4 upgrade?
I'm on 8.8.2, would like to get current.
IBM I Recommended Fixes - HMC Code Updates is only showing to 8.8.1 Is
there a newer link or was this page simply not updated?

Thinking about not doing it at this time.
Not because of any concerns about either the HMC upgrade, or the firmware
upgrade.
More concerned about biting off more than I can chew at this time. What
with kicking the vendor software off that doesn't work with 7.2 and
upgrading those lpars up from 7.1 to 7.2.

I plan on upgrading both of my HMC's from 8.8.3 to 8.8.4
and upgrade my 8286's both 41A and 42A, from FW830.10 (68) to FW 840_056

I release that 8.8.4 is a minimum requirement to go to FW840.

Not using any RS232 ports on my AIX lpars.

Any issues with that?
