FWiW: Attachments [non-text attachments anyhow] are stripped from messages before the message is posted to the NewsGroup [and I believe similarly stripped, before the message is forwarded to the list participants]. Such attachments are best placed somewhere they are generally accessible via a URL, and that URL posted in the message, allowing the recipient to click the link to visit\review the content.
