I got a call from the office a few minutes ago (I'm at home 40 minutes away
on a clear day). Seems that the snow and ice we've gotten this week is
starting to melt, and the office is "flooded." I put that in quotes because
they could never clarify how deep the water is.
Anyway, I had checked on the System i earlier this morning and again after
the call. The system normally sits on the floor. I did a PWRDWNSYS *IMMED
from here and told them to pull the system off of the floor. The cables
(twinax, Ethernet, you-name-it) all run on the floor after exiting the
conduits. They have called a service company to dry things out and fix the
damage.
Other than the power down and raising the system off of the floor is there
anything else we should do?
I'm going to have them call our system maintenance company early next week
before they power it back up.
