I've learned that arguing with the SNADS proponents is enlightening.

Personally I find TELNET a 1 to 1 replacement for STRPASTHR. That was a
no brainer. Unless, you are filling in the exact workstation, or burying
in the user id and password thus bypassing the signon, in strpasthr.

I did have my horizons broadened a little by the SAVRST... family of
commands. I thought they were sucking up as much space as perhaps
. SAV... to save file
. FTP
. plus the additional space that SNADS uses to make this fire-and-forget
but some patient soul showed me the save API and how you can intercept and
process the data as it is being saved thus not tying up all that save file
space and perhaps even the fire-and-forget space.

So I don't buy the argument that old is bad. However, I just still choose
not to use it.
