Here is a way to ensure that only one record (the 1st) is fetched by the
sub-select

update rjsimage/docs00 a
set keyword3 =
(select scaletix from jstone/docs00fix2 b
where a.docid = b.docid
and rrn(b) = (select min(rrn(c))
from jstone/docs00fix2 c
where c.docid = a.docid) )

not elegant but does the job.....
