I Created View 'AAA' based on 2 files using UNION.

If file A has 100,000 records and file B has 50,000

Should the join view have 150,000 ? I understand it doesn't actually
'have' them but this is what the DSPFD shows.

Note: A VIEW defined with a UNION, lacking an implicit or explicit JOIN, is not a "join view"; more appropriately that would be referred to as a UNION VIEW.

when doing DSPFD the view AAA has 100,000

The Display File Description (DSPFD) *can not know* the effect of a query; the /logical/ VIEW is merely an encapsulation of a query, for which /physical/ statistics are unknown.

To show _something_, rather than showing nothing about the underlying data, the statistics about the /primary/ file [actually the statistics of the first _dataspace_; notably, the first file may be another VIEW] of the VIEW are presented. While arguably deceptive information, that had been the documented effect, similar to a Join LF (JLF) which although not implemented as the effect of a CQE query is similarly dynamic; I did\will not research a doc link to provide proof of that effect, but anyone is free to do so for themselves or to offer a script that contradicts that effect.
