I talked with the developers at IBM.
That CVE was really for Java based DNS servers. IBM's is C based and not
necessarily open to that stack overflow issue.
They specifically mentioned that CVE in PTF SI51669 (which we have). So
we should be good.
Granted, MSS will continue to ding us until we get to some level they
bless.
IBM will not publish their exception at
http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2012-1667
as they feel that 'security by obscurity' will be safer than waving the
red flag of vulnerability to hackers would could then assault all those
fools who won't put on PTF's because they have the mentality "If it ain't
broke, don't fix it".
And IBM says you can forget about getting any newer DNS binds for 6.1.
They already have a fix - upgrade.
There are no new levels of bind on the immediate horizon for 7.1.
