using EDI 856 to send shipping carton detail info

can an EDI 856 be used to report the contents of each carton being shipped?

The 856s I have been sending are pretty much shipment versions of an 850.
Where the LIN and SN1 segments of the 856 match up with the PO1 segments of
the 850. And tracking numbers are sent in REF segments or in MAN segments
at the P Package HL level of the 856.

I want to include the shipping charge for each package in the 856.

But also more detail as to the contents of each carton being shipped. Can
the 856 be used for carton level detail?
