I'm pretty sure the problem is due to the PL/1 compiler PRPQ that we had. It was previously installed for 5.4 but not upgraded to the 6.1 version.

The PL/1 compiler itself crashes horribly if I try to compile a program.

We're going to order the PL/1 compiler PRPQ (5799-HLG) before reporting an issue.
