Hi, Jerry:

Jeff Yanoviak wrote a nice tool called UPDQRY that automates much of this task, and published articles about it in NEWS/400 magazine.
See:
http://iprodeveloper.com/database/update-query-definitions-automatically
and
http://iprodeveloper.com/database/retrieve-query-file-information-security-level-40

for details and the code.

You might also want to consider taking this opportunity to create a tool to retrieve the query definition (*QRYDFN) using the RTVQMQRY and RTVQMFORM commands, and then use the generated source to create a "Query Manager" query, as that uses the newer SQL Query Engine, versus the "legacy" query engine used by Query/400.

Once you have converted the queries to *QMQRYs (and *QMFORMs), you can maintain them using STRQM, with menu-based tools that are very similar to what you are used to with WRKQRY. You would then run the new queries using STRQMQRY versus RUNQRY.

I have a ton of queries created in WRKQRY that work against our ERP system.

We are planning to upgrade the ERP system and the new version has many
db changes.

We need to (re)create the queries so they pick up any db changes.

How can this be accomplished en masse?

TIA,

Jerry
