A word to the wise is sufficient. Avoid the E-View monitoring software at

I would question as to why there were 2.6 million spool files.

We had a problem where a piece of third-party security monitoring
software had a major bug.

Not only did the software not properly handle something that it should
have been handling, but it also did not properly detect that there was
a problem, so it was in a loop, generating a spooled dump each time
around until the system limit for spooled files was reached. As soon
as any spooled files were deleted, more dumps would be generated.

It was not a fun time. Particularly since I had no idea that our
corporate people had installed this third-party security monitoring
software (I'm just a programmer at one of our distribution centers),
but the loop was on ODBC connections from my users, so our corporate
people tried to dump the problem on me.
