Many thanks - it would have helpful if I had given a fuller explanation -
sorry. In fact they wish to log on, over the Web, to my CGIDEV generated
applications. - no FTP

Log on to what? 5250? ftp?

If it's for ftp then you can use an exit point and log on however your
little pea picking heart desires. I wrote my own but we decided to move
to a commercial product. We now use GoAnywhere to serve FTP. I have some
outside people who log in using their email address.

5250 is a bit trickier. Normally what you do then requires some
implementation of EIM or SSO. Then you set up their IBM i account a bit
different. Read the help for chgusrprf for "Local password management
(LCLPWDMGT)"

Subject: using email address for log on
Sent by: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx

I have a user who wants his people to be able to log on using their email
address rather than their IBM i user ID. I imagine that this is possible
but have not been able to find out how, so would appreciate some pointers
to where this is documented. This would be on a V5R4 system.

Many thanks
