this thread needs to die but that comment cannot be left alone.

IBM was under Federal Court Injunction until several years ago when the judge actually died ( therefore lifting his order ) that prohibited it from giving equipment/software/education to the schools free. That suit was brought about by what's now Unisys and Burroughs, but when those companies no longer cared some years later, the judge refused to lift his order.

Today, IBM give schools curriculum, software and hardware since it is no longer enjoined from doing so by a Federal Judge.
