So source is /unnecessary/ ... Until the source is needed :-)

In summary, you can try retaining SQL source but don't expect it to
be current.

All is hopeless ;-) Or at least is in a sad\sorry situation, without good Change Management... to ensure that the source reflects what is the current state.

The quoted message seems to be advocacy for implementing sound [Software, System, and Source] Change Management, so one can safely "expect [the source] to be current."
