PASE and QSHELL might not be good for performance, but something like
rsync or the like? do the files change everyday or only some?

Depending on the specifics and if they are 1-way transfers I would probably use FTP.

Netbios and NFS traffic are not very efficient over WAN connectivity in my opinion.
