PHP running on Windows needs DB2 connect to connect to the iSeries because the DB2 functions use the DB2 native client, and the DB2 UDB client that you can get from DB2 Express won't connect to iSeries, so you need the DB2 Connect product. We purchased a Windows application that needs to connect to our System I box to retrieve data. The vendor thinks they need to use DB2 Connect to do that. I was wondering why they couldn't just use the JDBC driver that is available via the JTOpen toolbox. Could someone explain why you would need DB2 Connect?
