Not much other than the BRMS controls are a bit more well documented. You can accomplish quite a bit with the BRMS controls and I like them because they are well documented, albeit rarely used. Clearly you can't check to see if TCP is up, or if a device is active or not, so the exit program comes in handy there. The only real problem with the exits is there is no return code to signify if the step finished completely without error or not. It is incumbent on the program to be very diligent to perform all the error handling needed.

If BRMS can do it I prefer BRMS. That is not always the case so the exits have their very useful place.
