Thanks Rob <tail between legs> Should have done some research but probably would not have found this looking for database encryption since this is database and OS and app and source code and IFS and...... encryption :)
And considering the i disk storage or any system with RAID. If you were to manage to steal a disk drive and try and put it in another system to read it's not going to work outside its raid set is it? And if you just try and read bits the random blocks of data might give a random glimpse of data but very unlikely you would get an entire file.

I have seen some recent conversations and vendor marketing that would say
something like "... our database is encrypted using AES 256...". To me
that implies that their entire database is encrypted. I know individual
columns/fields can be encrypted but I have never come across a database
where everything was encrypted. It's possible that someone would choose to
encrypt every column in every table. Is there something available that
would encrypt an entire database in one magical wave of an IT wizards
wand?
