Hello midrangers... its been a couple of months since I've posted here
as I left my old job for a new opportunity. This new opportunity has
thrust me into a real bitter sweet spot. We are currently running a
mostly home grown system on the IBM i that is not properly meeting our
needs due to many reasons. We are actively searching for solutions for
a new MIS/ERP system for the printing industry and I have yet to run
across one specifically for us.
A few of the major requirements is the ability to do JDF creation and
JDM reception for automating certain aspects of prepress. I would love
to see us stay on the IBM i, it is the best after all. I demo'd a nice
package yesterday that is built on the Windows stack... would rather
not jump to the land of uncertainty and reboots, but at this point it
