I read part of the redbook and it says to "verify with your software
vendor that they have enabled their product to work in an iASP
environment..."

What exactly does that mean?

As I see it:
iASP = independent disk pools, not available until varied on after an ipl.
That means that you cannot reference libraries in an iAsp until the iAsp is varied om.
That means that you should not point usrprf initial programs, jobds and such to a library in an iAsp.
I guess I am trying to say that it is mostly a setup/installation issue.
If you are working with spoolfiles, remember that if they are placed in an iAsp same rules as above apply.
And DO NOT change INLLIBL in jobd QDFTJOBD to include a library in an iAsp.
The same goes for system userprofiles Q*.
Once the application is setup properly there won't be any differences running in iasp or in *sysbase.
