The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

Hi, Frank:
As Scott Klement mentioned, directly calling QSHELL programs in OS/400
is not a documented or supported interface.
The following would be the preferred way to do this in a CL program:
DCL VAR(&CMD) TYPE(*CHAR) LEN(255)
CHGVAR VAR(&CMD) VALUE('chmod 644 ' || &FILNAM)
STRQSH CMD(&CMD)
MONMSG MSGID(QSH0000) EXEC(DO)
/* handle any errors here ... */
ENDDO
This gives you exactly the same functionality, in an officially
supported manner.
Hope that helps.

Mark, is this syntax correct or are ' needed for&FILNAM?
CALL PGM(QSHELL/CHMOD) PARM('644'&FILNAM)
