The default commitment scope for STRCMTCTL is *ACTGRP.
That means a commit and rollback works only within the same activation
group.

You need to either make sure your transaction will be completely executed
within a single activation group.
Or you need to start commitment control with Commitment scope *JOB

If STRCMTCTL was not executed and you call a program with embedded SQL that
uses commitment control, STRCMTCTL will be execute from SQL with Default
values!

Betreff: ACTGRP and commitment

Saw a couple of interisting ads for RPG programmers. One said 'someone who
can understand the code and not just use the debugger'.
Another was interesting in that it went into all the details of rpg
programming in order to list the different skills required. Another point
was 'candidate must understand activation groups and their impact on
commitment'. That eliminates me, dagnabbit! What do they mean?
