Massive Post. My comments
1) If DASD IOA is inside CEC current maintance is not possible.
2) Certain IOA can be maintained concurrently while certain can not.
3) Before replacing cache battery, warning message is issued typically with
SRC xxxx8008 or xxxx8009. Before the CE removes the battery , the CE need to
issue flush the cache ( can be done using FORCE command from advance
analysis , newer system at V5R4 and above allows option to flush cache too
). Once the cache is flushed, the battery can be pulled out.
4) Its important to keep the battery disconnected for about 2 minutes ,
before putting a new battery in the DASD IOA.

Unless you make the CE do the reload while you take a nap.

The only time I have had a problem is when the CE forced the power

We ended up reloading from tape.
