The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

Pete,
Phonegap is probably the most mature open source cross platform
development environment for mobile apps at the moment. By May of next
year there could be a whole set of new tools so I am keeping my ear to
the ground
How do you think Titanium Mobile (aka Appcelerator) compares to Phonegap, if
primarily interested in iOS and Android support? Phonegap tries to support
more platforms, but I haven't noticed any significant change in their
roadmap (
http://phonegap.pbworks.com/Roadmap ) since I first looked at it a
year ago.
Appcelerator (
http://www.appcelerator.com/products/titanium-mobile-application-development/)
at least lets you code extensions in ObjectiveC (iOS) or Java
(Android) if
/ when necessary so you should never have to hit a brick wall with a show
stopper problem when some feature you need is not supported.
I may prototype a complete order entry system soon, and if I could make it
cross platform that would be ideal. But at a minimum I need good iOS
support including integrating with the APIs for the Linea Pro barcode
scanner / credit card swipe sled (
http://www.ipclineapro.com/ ). It seems
that should be possible using Appcelerator by writing an ObjC plugin. Does
Phonegap support extensions or plugins?
Now that Apple has relaxed some of their restrictions on what development
tools are allowed, I am hoping that Phonegap and Appcelerator or whoever
steps up will make cross platform mobile development tools mature faster.
