In my former job I was using SAVRSTLIB to send objects between testing
LPARs and I wasn't intimately involved with the communications setup. I
guess I assumed SAVRSTLIB was part of the operating system...
Now I'm on a single partition machine. If so, can I still use SAVRSTLIB
to make a copy of a library? I suspect not.
It looks like we need to install something. I found a reference that
says it is a part of ObjectConnect, 5722-SS1 option 22. But it also
implied that it was for copying across LPARs. And I don't think we do
much, if anything with APPN or SNA. So for my occasional copies, it
probably isn't worth pursuing.
But conceptually it sounds nice, if the restore starts shortly after the
save starts.

Remember that you have to have the correct communications set up between--
the machines for this to work. It does not use FTP under the covers,
rather it uses APPN.

Hi Evan,

much sooner than the equivalent process of saving and then restoring;..."
I'm sure you meant "Because the restore commences..."
