Jon,
I use eNom and am a reseller through them. So far I have had no issues
with them but then again I have only been with them for about a month. My
previous host was RapidName and had no issues with them either. I have
heard bad things about GoDaddy as well, but mostly stemming from people
who had them as their registrar and host. I have a customer moving about
15 sites from GoDaddy to my services right now, but that is due to hosting
problems.
One thing that has caused people headaches with GoDaddy is when they try
to do a domain transfer. If their domain was set as Transfer Prohibited
they have to turn that off. But after turning that off it is seen by them
as a whois update which freezes your domain for 60 days. They set the
Transfer Prohibited automatically when you sign up unless you check a box
to tell them otherwise (most people don't). They claim it is to keep
unauthorized transfers from happening (domain hijacking) but this is not
really an issue now days because you have to get an authorization code
from the registrar in order to do that. The extra layers are kind of
redundant and act as a legal way for a registrar to hold your domain
hostage.
Thanks

Recommendations for domain registration
I've been using MyDomain.com for several years now with no troubles.
Today _all_ of their name servers are up and down (mostly down) and it
is causing me no end of grief. Not a word about the problems on their
support page of course!
Anyone got any suggestions for a good alternative host? I'm not too
keen on GoDaddy - heard too many nasty stories but any suggestions
welcome. Of course if the servers don't come back I may never see you
response but ...
