In my personal experience, I've never set up an IPDS printer that wasn't
an IBM/Ricoh printer.
From this IBM SupportLine KB article, it would appear most Brother
printers should be set up as 3812 *LAN printers with host print
transform.

I would suggest setting the print up using the PJL driver with the
*HP5SI or *RICOHAP3200 host print transform tables as noted in the KB
article.
Use port 9100.
