And, of course, all those spreadsheets have been audited/QA'd to be sure they are accurate/correct. WHAT? They haven't?

And, of course, they accurately reflect any adjustments made later to the GL or whatever. WHAT? They don't?

You make a humourous introduction to a very real problem. The user
community _are_ doing that very thing today, with the Excel spreadsheets
that they built when we in IT fell so far behind that they gave up on us.

Now, not only do we have end users altering that data at will, but each
department has a separate, unsynchronised copy of that data, each copy
customised for their personal use.

I think all here agree that giving the end user community free
command-line SQL access to the raw database is not the answer either,
but what is?
