Hi April,

(Posted to MIDRANGE-L since it doesn't really fit on RPG400-L)

A green screen interface simply lacks the graphical capabilities needed to view a PDF. It doesn't support the fonts, graphics, et al, that PDF files support.

Therefore, most folks use STRPCCMD -- STRPCCMD lets you run a command on the interactive user's PC. That way, you can launch Adobe Reader in the Windows environment, and the user can read the document there.

If there are shortcomings with STRPCCMD, there are other ways to run commands on a PC from IBM i that you might prefer. If you tell us more about why you don't want STRPCCMD, we can perhaps suggest better alternatives.

One way or another, you're going to need a different interface besides green-screen. Green screen just doesn't have the capabilities you need.

All,
Can anyone tell me how to view a pdf document from a green screen. I have searched the internet over and cannot
seem to find an answer. The only way I believe it can be done is using STRPCCMD, which I do not want to use if at
all possible. Any help would be appreciated. This will be selected by entering an option from a subfile, allowing to
print, email, or view.

Thank you,
April
