Larry,

We were doing it for awhile. Thought we had some requirement when working
with the medical industry to have biometrics introduced. So we bought
laptops with fingerprint scanners and add on fingerprint scanners. Turned
off the ability for a group of users to sign directly on to 5250
(password*none, local password management off, etc). The only way to get
to 5250 was for them to have system i access session autoconnect with
their EIM credentials. I seem to remember some additional windows based
software was in the mix somewhere. i Nav has a way to enter your system i
users into EIM. The problem I had with it was it's stupid prompt would
not pull up current users on the i - just users you already entered into
the EIM. WTF use was that I couldn't tell and submitted a Design Change
Request. There is a company that has such a prompt but I told them I
could pay someone to key this for less than $15/user. Tried to claim the
value was all their extra reporting capability. I find reporting
capability overrated. Reports are cheap to pump out, low cost to develop,
and are like trying to get an extra $2,000 for a car for the "sport"
edition when all it contains is a pinstripe down the side.

I don't think we are using that setup anymore. We reinterpreted the
requirements.
