SRM might remain the same since it's the same box. It's only when you
restore to a different box that IBM suggests not restoring the SRM.
(Details in the Backup and Recovery Guide.) It's just that way back when
we were running AS/400's (and just getting started) comm was down for 3
days because neither I, nor the CE, knew what we were doing and when he
inserted a card all resources were renamed. That lesson is burned DEEP
within my body.
There's a John Wayne movie where a rookie construction worker wants to set
the explosives. The Duke asks him if he's ever had an accident. When he
replied that he hasn't then it was determined that he hadn't learned and
therefore didn't get the task.
