Just as a side note... IBM at least on i5/OS ( IBM i ) only supports
Encryption on Libraries not Stand-alone drives
A further requirement is to be fibre attached. The SCSCI command set
does not allow tape controlled encryption.
If I recall the implementation correctly on LTO also has one key for the
entire tape set whereas the TS1120/1130 is capable of each tape having
it's own individual key regardless of the number of tapes in the set.
IBM has a software package to handle the keys, IBM Tivoli® Key Lifecycle
Manager (TKLM), and there was a package that would run in i last time I
checked. If memory serves, the i implementation was a no charge feature.
