Yes, "LAN Console" is what I'm talking about. Thanks. And fortunately, it should be no trouble to run it initially on the WinDoze box where it's currently expected to be, so long as it doesn't care how the Ethernet lines pass through the switch and the building wiring.
Hmm. I can now get a terminal session on the new box (after starting it from the power button on the physical front panel).
After some futzing around, Lan Console is now trying to connect, but we've forgotten the access password we'd set.
