I haven't found one that doesn't work well -- not that I've searched. My current 3489 monitor is a cheapo OmniTech F15J. Previously, I used another cheapo SYS GC150ATA. (You might have to do some searching to learn how cheap they were.) Those are just refurb throwaways from TigerDirect that I bought somewhere over five years ago and had lying around as extras.

IIRC, the challenge is in the monitor settings such as refresh rates. If you figure out how to configure the monitor to match the 3489 requirements, things just start working.

That seems like virtually the diametric opposite of my experience, especially with the 3489.

Assuming an LCD will accept the signal at all, my usual experience is that the pixel grid of the LCD develops a worse "beat" with that of a terminal than with any PC screen, and even if it's tolerable in 80-column mode, I'm lucky if I can make 132-column mode readable at all.

Of course, if I knew the specs of the rasters coming out of those terminals, I might be able to do something other than take shots in the dark.
