There's no such thing as a new p series is there? Aren't they all Power 6
boxes now? And the question is can your existing HMC run a power 6 box?

Well, you might want to make sure the level of HMC code will support the
level of firmware on your new box. If not, upgrade the HMC code. You may
have to upgrade your firmware on your i series.

At one time our hmc code was way behind (2 versions, let alone releases)
and so was our firmware. So we had to upgrade one a little, then the
other a little... back and forth until we were current.

We have one hmc here controlling three power 6's running a mix of i6.1 and
linux. No AIX. This HMC has been around for a number of years. And has
been through numerous upgrades.

We have a second hmc as a backup.
