Where did the file come from? A Windows box? Then it is no EBCDIC - you say not to convert it - fine - you get garbage.

EDTF will convert it for display = that's why you see it - it is NOT however in that exact form in the actual file. So the i helps you too much - or at least more than you expected.

You should take an 8 on the stream file and see what it's CCSID is.

Hi list!

I have a file that I can "edit" (EDTF STMF(&PATH)) and "see" (DSPF STMF(&PATH)) but I do not know why this is not working for me:

CPYFRMSTMF FROMSTMF(&PATH) TOMBR('/QSYS.LIB/QTEMP.LIB/TEMPFILE.FILE/TEMPFILE.MBR') MBROPT(*REPLACE) CVTDTA(*NONE) ENDLINFMT(*FIXED) TABEXPN(*NO)

when I display the content if QTEMP/TEMPFILE, everything is garbage.
I want no conversion of the data, just pull the data and place it on TEMPFILE.

Any ideas?

TIA,
